Motion Control – Ethernet/IP Marquees connect directly to the Rockwell Ethernet/IP Network!

Motion Control Components Ethernet IP Marquees from Servo2Go

Servo2Go-Logo

Greenville, DE — –Motion Control Components – The Ethernet IP Marquee revolutionizes the industrial market on how a marquee sign should connect and communicate on the Rockwell Ethernet/IP network. The Ethernet IP Marquee has a built in WEB server, eliminating the need to install software to program the marquee sign. Setup of the display is as simple as opening a WEB browser on your computer and entering the IP address of the marquee sign. With its fully integrated package, the Ethernet IP Marquee allows the user to configure and broadcast plc data and message information without programming communication blocks within the ladder logic code of the plc.

The product’s innovation allows the user to set up the functionality of the marquee sign and simply connect to the Rockwell plc. The messages displayed on the marquee can be alarms, machine performance, or production data. These messages are selected and displayed through internal registers from the plc. The format of these registers can be any combination of bits, words, or strings. The Ethernet IP Marquee has an additional ethernet port built into the marquee sign. This second port gives the marquee the flexibility to broadcast information to any computer on the plant network through the web server. This computer can monitor production data and collect real time information from the plant floor by simply entering the IP address of the marquee.

Also, third party spreadsheets can be used to monitor and store the information broadcasted by the marquee sign. With no software to install, the Ethernet IP Marquee stands alone as the new innovative way for a marquee sign to communicate on the Rockwell Ethernet/IP network.

Motion Control – New Profinet Interface for POSITAL’s Explosion-Proof Rotary Sensors

Posital Explosion Proof Rotary Sensors available from Electromate

Motion Control - Electromate-Logo

Vaughan, Ontario, Canada – Motion Control Components – POSITAL has added an optional Profinet communications interface to its range of explosion-proof IXARC rotary encoders. These devices have been designed to comply with ATEX/IECEx directives for Category 3 electrical products and are suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 21 conditions (potential exposure to hazardous levels of explosive gases and dust concentrations). Areas of application for these encoders include oil and gas facilities, underground mines, chemical plants, milling operations and grain-handling facilities.

POSITAL’s ATEX-certified encoders are built with aluminum or Type 316L stainless steel housings that are designed to contain any electrical hot spots or sparking and to provide environmental protection ratings of up to IP67. Based on POSITAL’s well-proven optical measurement technology, these encoders can deliver up to 16-bit resolution in single-turn configurations or 14-bit resolution for multi-turn models. This technology ensures that position measurement integrity is maintained even if movement occurs when system power is unavailable. No backup batteries are needed, reducing maintenance costs. IXARC encoders can be ordered with a wide range of mounting options to ensure that they can be readily adapted to many kinds of equipment.

ATEX and IECEx Norms

Posital Explosion Proof Rotary Sensors available from Electromate

ATEX and IECEx norms define essential requirements for equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Finding the right IXARC sensor for a particular application is straightforward. The web site https://www.electromate.com/posital-fraba.html provides a powerful product finder tool that enables a customer to specify the product features required for each application and then quickly zero in on the best available products.

Loop gain, current limit, input gain and offset can be adjusted using 14-turn potentiometers. The offset adjusting potentiometer can also be used as an on-board input signal for testing purposes. This drive can use quadrature encoder inputs for velocity control. Features include:

  • Built-in hardware protection – Over Current, Over Voltage, Under Voltage, Over Temperature, Short Circuit
  • DIP Switches and Potentiometers for loop tuning, current limit adjustments and drive configuration
  • Standard models support both brushless and brushed motor types
  • Velocity feedback via incremental encoder, Hall Sensors, or tachometer
  • Optical isolation between high and low power signals standard on certain models
  • Current, Velocity, and Fault Monitor analog output signals
  • Status LEDs for power and drive status
  • Four quadrant regenerative operation

MotiCont-Logo

Van Nuys, CA – Motion Control Components – Moticont’s DDLMs (Direct Drive Linear Motors) eliminate backlash and provide an economical solution for users requiring high acceleration, high speed, and long life.  They are available in three popular off-the-shelf models.  The compact DDLM-019-044-01, linear motor is only 0.75 in. (19.1 mm) in diameter and 1.75 in. (44.5 mm) long. It has a stroke of 0.46 in. (11.7 mm), and features 11.0 oz (3.1 N) of continuous force and 34.8 oz (9.7 N) peak. The compact, longer stroke DDLM-019-070-01, linear motor is also only 0.75 in. (19.1 mm) in diameter but is 2.75 in. (69.9 mm) long. It has a stroke of 0.96 in. (24.4 mm), and features 10.1oz (2.8 N) of continuous force and 32.1oz (8.9 N) peak. For higher force applications the DDLM-038-051-01 linear motor is 1.5 in. (38.1 mm) in diameter and 2.00 in. (38.1 mm) long. It has a stroke of 0.375 in. (9.5 mm) with a continuous force of 3.1 lbs (14.0 N) and 9.9 lbs (44.1 N) peak.

These very compact motors can be easily integrated into new and existing applications using threaded features on the front and rear faces of the motor, as well as each end of the shaft.  The feed-back devices, amplifiers and controllers are also available. If a motor with a longer stroke and/or greater force is required please request additional information from the factory.

Typical DDLM direct drive motor applications include: Automated assembly, component insertion, fluid dispensing, pick-and-place, robotics, wafer handling, sorting, valve and flow control, labeling, tension control, and laser machining in the processing, manufacturing, medical, inspection, metrology and other industries.

Motion Control – High Precision, Low Cost, Stacked Goniometer Stages from OES!

Motion Control Stacked Goniometer Stage from OES

OES Logo

Van Nuys, CA – — Motion Control –- Goniometer stages can measure angles of objects such as crystals or move an object to a precise angular position along an arc, in relation to a fixed point in space. Two goniometer stages mounted in an alpha-beta configuration (stacked) can rotate an object around a fixed point in space on a spherical surface. Optimal Engineering Systems (OES) offers stacked, precision aligned goniometer stages with a rotation center 50 mm above the upper stage. The lower (AK110-10) goniometer stage features a 65 mm x 65 mm table, ± 10O of rotation at a rate of 7O per sec. The upper (AK110-15) goniometer stage features a 65 mm x 65 mm table, ± 15O of rotation at a rate of 10O per sec. The accuracies for each unit are; repeatability: ± 4″ (240 arcseconds), typical positional accuracy: ± 9″ (540 arcseconds), and typical backlash is ± 3″ (180 arcseconds). Goniometers and stacked goniometers are used for: Identifying crystals, examining cutting edges of medical instruments, estimating hyperspectral bidirectional reflectance, gloss measurements, measurements of radiation patterns of LEDs, Directing lasers, aligning mirrors, and manufacturing of quartz oscillator plates using quartz cutting x-rays.
